Vicdeaf - Vicdeaf 125 Years Anniversary Celebrations

Vicdeaf 125 Years Anniversary Celebrations

Our 125th Anniversary Celebrations have already begun and we have already had some very special events.  In March, Professor Pawel Jastreboff and Dr Margaret Jastreboff visited Australia and provided us with the latest information on Tinnitus research and management.  These were very successful seminars and workshops.  They lead the way for further events later this year.

We attended the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show again this year. Over 120,000 visitors to the Show had the chance to see us and find out more about Vicdeaf. We had a competition and several thousand people entered. A family from Bacchus Marsh won the rain-water tank and its installation.

The 125 Anniversary Ball is on Saturday 18 July and tickets have sold out.  This will be a very special event.  The profit raised from the evening will help the Victorian Deaf Olympians to get to Taipei in August to represent Australia in the 21st Summer Deaflympics.

There are still a number of Anniversary events coming up including a special Anniversary Garden Party at Government House in October.  There is also the Magical History Tour which will occur in October/November. There will be a number of opportunities to see a collection of various memorabilia and historical materials.  This will be at 340 Albert Street and will also include a 'Walking Tour' of the various locations that have been home to Vicdeaf over the years.

This year the Christmas Rally on Sunday 6 December will also have an Anniversary side to it. We will tell you more about this and all of these events in the near future.
