Please help Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN) to support Deaf people and people with a disability
13 July 2010
You may know that I'm now working with ACCAN, the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network.
What is ACCAN?
ACCAN represents consumers. ACCAN wants to make sure that everyone in Australia, including Deaf people and people with a disability, have affordable (cheap) access to phones, mobile phones, TTYs, internet, broadband, etc. (For more information about ACCAN, please visit http://www.accan.org.au/about_us.php.)
Please help ACCAN to support Deaf people and people with a disability!
ACCAN wants the government to make sure that Deaf people and people with a disability have affordable (cheap) access to phones, internet, etc. To do this, ACCAN wants the new National Disability Strategy to include six areas for action, and three performance indicators about telecommunications. ACCAN is asking YOU to please help us tell the government about this.
It's easy to help!
1. Go to ACCAN's website:
http://www.accan.org.au/campaign_full.php?id=16 to email your State/Territory Premier/Chief Minister and Disability Minister and the Federal Ministers. (You don't need to write anything, just add your name.)
2. Endorse ACCAN's Position Statement. To read it, click here:
http://www.accan.org.au/uploads/ACCAN%20Inclusive%20Communications%20Position%20Statement%20final.pdf If you want to endorse the statement, please email my colleague Wayne by 5pm on Friday 23 July 2010:

3. Please send this email to your friends and networks!
Thanks so much for your support!
