Inaccessibility of sports venue - your views required

9 March 2010

Dear members,

I would like to hear your views and experiences about sporting stadiums/venues that are inaccessible to you.
- are you able to follow the ground announcements
- are you able to follow video content displayed on the big screens
- would you hear announcements and alarms if there was an emergency.

Eg: have you been to an event at the MCG, SCG or similar, what was your experience with accessibility?
(As an example, in the USA, Yankee stadium in New York now provides in-depth captioning of commentary and for all ground announcements.)

Click here to download a PDF copy of Deafness Forum’s draft position statement on accessibility of sports grounds. This was prepared some time ago but not finalised. If you have any suggestions for amendments of this statement, please let me know.

Your comments by end of March would be appreciated.
