Decision time for the Cinema temporary exemption application getting closer
4 March 2010
Email from Michael Small (Thurs 4 March 2010)
Hello,
You will recall that following consideration of submissions received in relation to the current application for a temporary exemption from Hoyts Corporation, Greater Union Organisation, Village Cinemas and Reading Cinemas the Commission wrote to the applicants providing an opportunity for them to respond to a number of issues raised. That letter can be found on our website at
http://humanrights.gov.au/disability_rights/exemptions/cinema/request.htm
I am writing to inform you that the Commission has received a response from the applicants which is also now on our website as Update 3 on the original application at
http://humanrights.gov.au/disability_rights/exemptions/cinema/notice.htm .
A direct link to the response is
http://humanrights.gov.au/disability_rights/exemptions/cinema/subs/AHRC_Response_(2).doc (if link doesn't work, copy and paste this link onto the web browser)
The Commissioner will now proceed to develop a recommendation to the Commission which is responsible for final decisions in relation to temporary exemption applications. While I cannot be sure of timing I would anticipate a decision before the end of March.
