Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association applies for temporary exemption

The Human Rights Commission has received a new application for a Temporary Exemption from the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA) on behalf of its members in the subscription TV area. The earlier application posted on their website in June 2009 has been withdrawn.

The application details a number of commitments to increases in captioning levels over the period of the temporary exemption.

The Commission is seeking submissions on the application by Friday 2 April.
