Announcement from VCOD
1 July 2010
It is with regret that we announce Rachel Miers is leaving her position as Manager of VCOD after five years of service. Her last day was on 30 June 2010.
She was dedicated to VCOD over the years despite limited funding and resources. Rachel's achievements included being involved in the organisation of VCOD's 3rd State Deaf Conference, the Deaf Education Review and National Week of Deaf People activities.
Rachel assisted in the setting up of community courses & special events, acted in advocacy situations, represented VCOD in committee groups, and distributed information through newsletters and E News to inform and educate the deaf community.
The Board and Staff of VCOD express their thanks to Rachel for her great efforts and wish her all the very best in her future endeavours.
It is with pleasure that we announce Melissa Lowrie as new part-time Information Service Manager of VCOD. She joins the organisation on 1 July 2010.
She brings with her a strong background in administration and project management having worked in a number of roles including as Personal Assistant to the CEO of Vicdeaf and as Secretary of the Melbourne Deaf Cricket Club. Being deaf herself and an active member of the Deaf community, Melissa has a deep understanding of the issues and barriers that deaf Victorians face. She is a strong believer in deaf people being provided with all information available to make considered choices. These aims will serve VCOD well.
The Board and Staff of VCOD welcome Melissa onboard and look forward to working with her. We will do a profile on Melissa shortly - stay tuned!
