The Australian Government today announced three expert groups to help inform the design of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The expert groups will work under the NDIS Advisory Group to help the Australian Government design a scheme that meets the lifetime care and support needs of people with significant and permanent disability.

On 30th April 2012, there was a NDIS 'Make it Real' Rally at Federation Square , Melbourne. It was attended by thousands of Victorians with a disability and their families.

Television broadcasters continue to fail Deaf Australians by not capturing Auslan interpreters, writes Wayne Hawkins. Monday was a landmark day for Australians living with disability and the people who care for them. 'Make it Real' rallies took place in six capital cities across the nation, organised by Every Australian Counts, the campaign for a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
