Making a Bequest

By including a gift to Vicdeaf in your Will, you can not only help support Vicdeaf now, but also leave an important legacy for future generations of deaf Victorians. Leaving a bequest means that you can often leave the type of gift you would not be able to give during your lifetime. Or you could set up a trust to Vicdeaf from your bequest, to benefit deaf Victorians in perpetuity. And remember that even leaving a small amount can make a huge difference to those people we help.

If you are considering writing your Will, Vicdeaf suggest that you consult a solicitor to ensure that your Will is legally sound.

Your solicitor may ask for you to obtain the correct wording for including Vicdeaf in your Will. We suggest:

"I bequeath to the Victorian Deaf Society (“the Society”) of Level 4 340 Albert Street, East Melbourne in the state of Victoria (ABN 56004 058 084) the sum of $.................................... (insert dollar amount) and/or ..........................% (insert percentage) of my estate free of all duties and deductions for the general purposes of the Society.. I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer of the Society for the time being shall be sufficient proof of discharge to my executor(s)."

Giving in memory of a loved one

You can give a donation to Vicdeaf in memory of a loved one, or encourage other people to do so. Such a gift will ensure that that person’s memory and legacy continues to support our work and to benefit the Victorian deaf community in the future.

Should you desire, gifts given in the name of your loved one can be acknowledged both in our annual report and in the acknowledgments section of our website.

Vicdeaf also have envelopes that can be used for giving in-memorial donations. If you would like these to distribute or have at a loved one’s funeral or service, please contact us.
