An INVITATION TO A PUBLIC MEETING hosted by Deaf Children Australia
‘Foundations for our Next 150 Years’
Deaf Children Australia is launching the “Foundations for our Next 150 Years” project at a public meeting to be held on the 8th July 2010. This is a long term proposal to improve the historic home of deaf education and the deaf community in Victoria. Our goal is to create the best possible environment and facilities for the community’s future.
The Board will outline its vision at the meeting which will include exploring options for the regeneration of the site, in consultation with all our partners. These discussions will lead to a master plan that will transform the site into a much enhanced services, education and community facility for generations to come.
Deaf Children Australia considers the following very important to the success of the project.
• Providing significantly improved educational and community facilities to the deaf community
• Restoring the Bluestone building
• Creating a financially sustainable future for the site
• Meeting the ever growing demand for the services of Deaf Children Australia
• Not demolishing or removing any part of The Bluestone or The Trade Block
Present at the meeting will be:
David Prest, the architect commissioned by Deaf Children Australia to design some of the possibilities for the site. David has a 25 year history with this site and a personal passion for its conservation, but also its sustainable future.
Also present will be members of the Board and the Chief Executive to answer your questions.
Tea, coffee and some light snacks will be provided.
